Why this mattered
Outcome before process.
Three of the five — French, German, Spanish — are among the best-resourced languages in the industry. The other two are not.
Iu Mien is spoken by roughly a million people worldwide and required healthcare handbook QA. Fiji Hindi has roughly 380,000 speakers.
MoniSa handled the work under ISO 9001:2015 for process control and ISO 27001:2022 for information handling. ISO 17100:2015 is scoped to translation, so it is not claimed for this work.
A brief spanning that range is really two projects with one delivery date, and the risk sits entirely in the second half.

A five-language brief that mixes major European languages with ultra-rare ones creates a planning illusion. Three languages will move predictably and two will not, but the schedule is usually set as though all five behave the same.

Iu Mien healthcare content compounds two hard requirements: a small speaker population and domain-specific medical material where an imprecise rendering has consequences.
Healthcare handbook QA is also a distinct competence from translation. Reviewing health content for accuracy requires understanding the domain, not only the language.
Fiji Hindi is frequently mistaken for Hindi in briefs. It is a distinct variety with its own vocabulary and usage, and sourcing it from a general Hindi pool produces text that reads wrong to its actual audience.
The voiceover component adds a further constraint: it is not enough to find a speaker of an ultra-rare language, they must also be able to record to professional audio standard.
That combination — rare language, domain content, and recording capability — narrows the pool at each step, and the intersection is where an unprepared vendor discovers it cannot deliver.

- Ask for scope per language, never in aggregate. A mixed-difficulty brief hides under-delivery in the rare languages behind a healthy total.
- Fiji Hindi is not Hindi. Naming the variety in the brief prevents sourcing from a pool whose output reads wrong to the intended audience.
- Healthcare content review is a domain competence, not a language one. Confirm the reviewer understands the subject, not just the words.
- Voiceover in a rare language needs a speaker who can record to standard. That intersection is much smaller than the speaker population suggests.
- In mixed briefs, plan the rare languages first. The three easy languages will not be what moves your date.
- A useful mixed brief names per-language volume, the recording specification, the domain review owner, and the variety for any language with regional forms.
- Equal scope across unequal languages is a deliberate choice. Ask whether it was made, or whether it was assumed.
